William Filmore "Dick" Clark, 84, of Newton, NC, passed away at Catawba Regional Hospice in Sherrills Ford, NC.  He was born January 26, 1932 to the late Donald Lincoln and Myrtle Freeman Clark in Catawba County, NC.  William was a retired truck driver.  He drove many years for Gaines Motor Lines and Tarheel Tankers.  He was a life-long, avid fisherman whom derived great joy from the fish he caught.
     In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by one son, Paul Eugene Clark, four brothers and three sisters.  
     Mr. Clark is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Jean Clark of the home, two daughters; Darlene Combs and husband Dennis Combs, Sr. of Newton, and Rita Cline and husband Tony Cline, Sr. of Maiden, one son, Charles Clark and wife Tonya of Newton, one brother, Walter Lee Clark of Newton, 8 grandchildren; Benny Clark and wife Kristi of Anderson, SC, Chasity Drum and husband Brian of Maiden, Toby Bollinger of Asheville, NC, Frank Cline of Statesville, NC, April Philyaw and husband Cole of Lincolnton, NC, Natalie Combs of Charlotte, NC, Cody Clark and Caitlin Clark, both of Newton, and ten great-grandchildren.
     The Clark family will receive friends September 15, 2016 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.  Rev. Ronnie W. Parker of Maiden, NC will officiate.  Speakers will be Judy Ann Clark Smith of Newton, and Tera White Gunter of Green Cove Springs, Florida.  Interment will follow the service at Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, NC.
     Pallbearers will be:  Christopher Drum, Frank Cline, Scott Wilson, John Moose, Brian Drum, and Cole Philyaw.
