Howard Richard Sigmon, 81, passed away on December 24, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.  He was born November 6, 1936 to the late Fred and Blonnie Sigmon in Catawba County.  Howard  was an upholsterer with Southern Furniture until he retired after 30+ years.  He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Conover.  In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Sigmon.

Howard is survived by two daughters; Gail Blackwell and Cathy Sigmon, both of Newton, one son, Ricky Sigmon of Maiden, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other cherished relatives and friends.

The Sigmon family will receive friends on December 28, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Conover from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.  A funeral service will follow in the St. Johns Lutheran Church sanctuary at 12:30 pm.  Rev. Anton Lagoutine will be officiatiing.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Jack and his family were my nextdoor neighbor as I was growing up in Maiden. He was a fine man and was always a great neighbor. RIP Jack.
