Vernon Franklin (Frank) Stinson, Jr. passed away on April 16, 2019. He was born in Catawba County on November 13, 1968 to Rev. Dr. Vernon Franklin Stinson, Sr. and Rev. Betty Jean Maddox Stinson of Maiden. 

 

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Renee Stinson of the home, two sons; Vernon Franklin Stinson III of Arden, NC, and Malachi Stinson of the home, five daughters; Kesiya Stinson of Greensboro, Shamica Stinson of Newton, Diamond Stinson of Charlotte, Katriana and Zamira Stinson of the home, one granddaughter, Melanie Maynard of Newton, one brother, Prince Christopher Stinson and wife Tina of Maiden, three sisters; Angela L. Moten and husband Chad of Newton, Alanna D. Stinson of Lincolnton, and Veronica A. McMillan and husband Charles of Maiden.

 

Frank graduated from Maiden High School in 1987. At an early age, he gave his life to the Lord.  He was a faithful Member of Coulter’s Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, and later became a Member of New Vision Ministries in Lincolnton, NC.

  

Frank enlisted in the US Army and fought in the Persian Gulf War, and in May 1991 he received the “Army Achievement Medal for Exceptionally Meritorious Service.”  He received an Honorable Discharge from the Military. Frank worked for the Sherriff Department as a Deputy Sherriff in Texas and also with the Lincoln County Sherriff Department for many years. Later, Frank received his Truck Driving License and drove long distances for over five years. Finally, God Blessed Frank with a local truck driving job at First Fleet, Inc., in Newton, NC. 

 

Frank was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Elder Prince Oscar Maddox and Eva Maddox; and his paternal grandparents; Rev. Lovet Stinson and Gedell T. Stinson.

 

Goodin-Drum Funeral Home is serving the Stinson family.
