Leon Stanford Shipp, Sr.

Leon Stanford Shipp ("Brother") Sr., 55, of Mount Holly, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2020 in Kings Mountain, NC. Leon was born to Leon Shipp and the late Aleine Rose Link Shipp on October 17, 1964. He graduated from East Gaston High School in 1983. He attended Johnson C. Smith University from 1983-1987.

Leon truly lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures and spending time with his family. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive way through laughter. Leon was a beautiful spirit that touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a sports enthusiast, and his accolades while playing sports in High School and at the University level spoke for themselves.

Leon was preceded in death by his mother Aleine Rose Link Shipp, and his brother, Rodrick Shipp. Leon is survived by his father, Leon Shipp, three sons; Duriel (Crystal) Connor, Leon (Katelyn) Shipp, Jr., and Austin Shipp; three daughters, Natasha McCorkle, Shanisha

Froneberger, and Jessica Shipp, one brother, Timmy Lee Shipp, three sisters; Sherry Shipp, Derita Robinson, and Patrice (Robert) Weekley, seven grandchildren; Cassidy Connor, Khristian Wakefield, Sevyn Wakefield, Addison Shipp, Arianna Shipp, Duriel Connor, Jr.,

and Aubrey Shipp; three uncles; Robert Lee Shipp, Thermond (Sally) Link, and Eldon (Toya) Link, four aunts; Florence Sherrill, Doris Hicks, Joyce McDowell, and Brenda Link, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday April 9, 2020 at Gold Hill - Rock Hill Cemetery. The burial will follow at the aforementioned location.

Arrangements are by Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.
