Marlene Laney Parker, 94 of Maiden passed away on April 7, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Marlene was born on September 6, 1928 to the late Frank David and Mamie Ethel Poovey Laney in Catawba County. She worked in the hosiery industry as a finisher until her retirement. Marlene was a devoted member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Marlene loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Sylvanus Parker.
Marlene is survived by three sons; Larry Parker and wife Vicky, Joe Parker, and Jeff Parker, one daughter, Robin Parker Willis and husband David, three grand-sons; Chad Parker, Darrin Willis, and Daniel Willis, one grand-daughter, Tiffany Parker Black, five great-grandchildren; Ethan Black, Ellie Black, Brynn Willis, Lexi Willis, and Ali Willis, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
The Parker family will receive friends on Tuesday April 11, 2023 from 1-2pm at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Maiden. The funeral will be at 2:00pm in the sanctuary at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Pastor Nathan Yoder will officiate. Interment will follow the service at May's Chapel UMC Cemetery.
